Framework for Bridge Management System in Montenegro
The problem of construction road infrastructure and bridge management system, as one of the segments of road infrastructure, is extremely complex and requires a multidisciplinary approach. In this paper the problems are presented from the standpoint of the civil engineering profession. About forty bridges, which are part of the Bar-Boljare highway will be included in the road network of Monte-negro, very soon. Within the Main Design of Highway Bridges, a project Pro-gram of Bridge Control During the Exploitation is provided, also. The bridge control program should be included in the database for bridge maintenance on the highway. Highway bridges should be only one segment of the database of bridg-es on the road network of Montenegro. The existing bridges in Montenegro are mostly over thirty years old, traffic loads and traffic density are increasing very rapidly, floods are becoming more frequent, and the effect of salt, water and air pollution affect the accelerated decaying of bridges. Therefore, there is a need to build bridge management information system for complete territory of Montene-gro. Before establishing a database for bridges, it is necessary to establish a data-base for roads, per municipalities or regions. In the aim precise and easy bridge identification, it is necessary to use a geodetic system, GIS. The paper proposes method for setting priorities for the maintenance of bridges and method for as-sessing the bearing capacity of bridge during the exploitation. The purpose of this research was to provide a framework for the development Bridge Management System (BMS) in Montenegro.
