Multiphase CFD simulation of photogrammetry 3D model for UAV crop spraying
In this paper, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used to perform a transient analysis of physical variables associated with aerodynamic and water behavior an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for crop spraying. The simulation is used to observe vortex, pressure, and turbulence kinetic energy (TKE) and particle volume with post-processing. These variables facilitate the aerodynamic and fluid evaluation in aerial devices. In the research, images of a plant were captured and the 3D model was obtained through digital photogrammetry techniques. CFD studies are currently being conducted to improve efficiency in a large number of devices such as wind turbines, aircraft and, as in our case, unmanned aerial vehicles in precision agriculture. It was observed how the aerodynamic and water fluid behavior varies in time and the simulation show an impact on the coverage area in the 3D model of the plant.
