Cyclostationary Spectrum Sensing Based on FAM in Cognitive Radio Technology

In Cognitive Radio, the detection of an unused band to exploit it opportunistically is the most difficult problem. Cognitive Radio must have the ability to detect primary users efficiently even in any Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Spectrum sensing based on energy has shown its efficiency only in a high SNR [1]. While Cognitive Radio must also be able to effectively detect primary user in a low ratio (SNR). This difficulty can be overcome by exploiting the cyclostationary signatures exposed by signal communication. In this work, the cyclostationary method using FFT Accumulation Method (FAM) is performed using Matlab environment. Simulations show that the performances of this method are very interesting even in low levels of SNR.
