Sensor-based Global Mobility Management Scheme with Multicasting Support for Building IoT Applications

IP-based Wireless Sensor Networks (IP-WSNs) are their broad range of applica-tions, including in health care, home automation, environmental monitoring, in-dustrial control, vehicle telematics, and agricultural monitoring. For these applica-tions, sensor mobility is a fundamental issue, particularly regarding energy effi-ciency. Network-based mobility-supported IP-WSNs. To this end, we propose a network-based mobility-supported IP-WSN protocol which is referred to as “Sensor-based Global Mobility Management Scheme with Multicasting Support” (SGM). Our analysis is carried out by calculating the signaling cost, total signal-ing cost and mobility cost, and we analyze the change in the signaling cost, total signaling cost, and mobility analyze the change in the signaling cost, total signal-ing cost, and mobility cost as the number of IP-WSN nodes and the number of hops increases. The result s of the analysis show that our proposed SGM is more cost effective than existing schemes, including Proxy Mobility IPv6 (PMIPv6) and Sensor Proxy Mobility IPv6 (SPMIPv6).
