The role of the E-reader at the university

This work analyzes the use of e-readers and the relationship between text and type of selected device according to the preferences of a sample of Spanish Universities. Participants were 212 students enrolled in the library and information studies of 14 public universities in Spain during the academic year 2012-2013. They completed an online survey using Google Drive technology, and were asked about the frequency of use of e-reader, type of selected device of reading and use of the digital collection of the University library. Our results show that the e-reader is the preferred device to read literature, but the academic readings such as books and scientific articles are scarce in this device when compared to paper or computers. There is also a lack of awareness about the digital library collection.
