Pervasive Systems, Invisibility and Mobility: towards an Open Source Pervasive System Framework

Abstract:
Pervasive systems require mobility of computing resources and distributed
computing. Computing devices must move freely from location to location with
users being unaware of network and distributed computing activity taking
place. Such activities require close and constant coordination of computing
facilities In this paper we examine the history and current status of
pervasive systems and argue for the need for open standards and specifically
open source to support the high degree of interoperability required by
pervasive systems. An open systems framework for pervasive systems is
presented and discussed.
