Fotointerpretação e Sistemas de Informação Geográfica. Contributo para a Identificação de Dólmens em Portugal: O Caso de Mora e Arraiolos

Aerial archaeology makes use of aerial and satellite images with the vertical view, allowing the identification of archaeological sites, both individually and in complete venues, since the pictures obtained from the top can capture larger scales of the territory. These images in conjunction with Geographic Information Systems are powerful tools in Archeology. This work, through the integration of photointerpretation techniques under aerial pictures and satellites obtained through software such as Google Earth and BING, is presented as a non-intrusive prospecting method. These methods were used here to analyse standard features of dolmens inserted in Alentejo Central, more specifically between Mora and Arraiolos (Portugal). The analysis of these images allows perceiving the patterns of the objects, allowing to find already identified elements as well as to find monuments not yet located.
